ANKARA, Friday, August 29, 2025 (WNP): Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan has expressed deep solidarity with Pakistan as the country reels from devastating monsoon floods claiming more than 820 lives nationwide since late June, including over 400 fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone.

In a heartfelt statement on Friday, Emine Erdogan recalled her visit to Pakistan during the 2010 floods, saying she had personally witnessed the suffering of the Pakistani people in the face of natural calamity.

“As someone who visited Pakistan during the 2010 flood disaster and witnessed the suffering firsthand, I wish a speedy recovery to our brothers and sisters tested once again by a similar tragedy,” she said. “Back then, Türkiye was among the first countries to extend a helping hand to heal Pakistan’s wounds.”

Reiterating Türkiye’s unwavering support, the First Lady emphasized that her country stood by Pakistan through prayers, humanitarian aid, and on-the-ground assistance. She noted that the Turkish Red Crescent was actively engaged in relief efforts, providing medical care, housing, food, and clean water to affected communities.

“I pray for Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to our wounded brothers and sisters,” she added, urging the international community to rally behind Pakistan. “I hope that the world will support Pakistan in these difficult days and contribute to healing the wounds through the power of mercy and solidarity.”

Pakistan has faced weeks of relentless monsoon rains, with the death toll rising sharply since mid-August. Authorities fear further losses as rescue and relief operations continue in severely impacted regions.
