WASHINGTON, Monday, September 29, 2025 (WNP): U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a 20-point plan to end the Gaza war, under which Israel will neither annex nor occupy the Palestinian enclave — a proposal welcomed by Pakistan.

Speaking at a news conference after meeting Netanyahu at the White House, Trump hailed the agreement as “potentially one of the great days ever in civilization.” He said countries across the region, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Qatar, had expressed support, while Pakistan and Indonesia — which do not recognize Israel — also endorsed the deal.

“The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir back this 100 percent,” Trump told reporters.

The announcement comes as the conflict in Gaza enters its third year, with more than 66,000 Palestinians killed since October 7, 2023, and thousands more feared trapped beneath rubble.

Under the plan, Gaza would become a “deradicalized, terror-free zone,” overseen temporarily by a technocratic Palestinian committee with international experts, under the supervision of a new transitional body called the “Board of Peace,” chaired by Trump. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is among those expected to serve on the body.

Key provisions include: An immediate ceasefire and Israeli withdrawal upon mutual agreement; the release of all hostages within 72 hours, followed by prisoner exchanges; amnesty or safe passage for Hamas members who disarm; large-scale humanitarian aid, infrastructure rehabilitation, and rubble clearance coordinated by the UN, Red Crescent, and other agencies; establishment of an International Stabilization Force (ISF), supported by the U.S., Jordan, and Egypt, to train Palestinian police and oversee border security; a U.S.-backed economic development plan, including a special economic zone, to attract investment and create jobs; and a guarantee that Israel will not annex or permanently occupy Gaza.

Trump said the plan aims to rebuild Gaza, ensure long-term peace and security for both Palestinians and Israelis, and eventually create conditions for a credible pathway to Palestinian statehood.

If Hamas delays or rejects the deal, Trump said the measures — including humanitarian relief and reconstruction — would proceed in areas handed over by the Israel Defense Forces to the ISF.

“New Gaza will be fully committed to building a prosperous economy and peaceful coexistence with its neighbors,” Trump said, emphasizing that interfaith dialogue would also be part of the process to promote tolerance and reconciliation.

The agreement marks the most detailed U.S. initiative on Gaza since the war began, with its success hinging on the acceptance of all stakeholders and the implementation of security guarantees.
