PESHAWAR, Friday, December 5, 2025 (WNP): The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has delivered essential medical consumables to the Frontier Foundation in Peshawar, aiming to enhance screening standards, improve transfusion safety, and elevate overall service quality for thousands of thalassemia patients in the region.

The Frontier Foundation, which provides free hematology services to over 4,000 registered patients across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, plays a critical role in supporting families affected by the genetic blood disorder. Pakistan continues to carry a significant thalassemia burden, with an estimated 5–7% of the population identified as carriers.

TİKA’s latest support package is designed to strengthen the institution’s operational capacity, helping ensure safer and more reliable blood transfusions for patients who rely on regular treatment.

The initiative highlights Türkiye’s continued commitment to advancing public health cooperation and supporting life-saving services in Pakistan.
