ABU DHABI, Thursday, June 12, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with United Arab Emirates President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during an official visit to the UAE on Thursday.
The leaders reaffirmed the historic brotherly ties between the two nations and held in-depth discussions on bilateral, regional, and global developments.
Held at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi, the meeting underscored the enduring partnership between Pakistan and the UAE, founded on mutual trust, shared values, and decades of close cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to deepening collaboration in key areas, including trade, investment, and regional peace.
Prime Minister Shehbaz extended heartfelt gratitude to the UAE leadership for its constructive diplomatic efforts in helping to defuse recent tensions between Pakistan and India. He praised the UAE’s proactive role in promoting peace, dialogue, and regional stability.
The leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and enhance engagement at all levels to advance shared goals of prosperity and security across the region. Prime Minister Shehbaz also reiterated his invitation for Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.
The Pakistani delegation accompanying the prime minister included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, Information Minister Ataullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the PM Syed Tariq Fatemi.
Later, in a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Shehbaz shared details of the meeting, stating: “Delighted to meet my dear brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during my official visit to the UAE. I thanked him for the UAE’s vital role in easing recent tensions between Pakistan and India. We reaffirmed our shared commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. Our deep-rooted ties, built on trust and brotherhood, continue to grow stronger, especially in trade and investment. I look forward to welcoming His Highness to Pakistan soon.”
Earlier in the day, the prime minister arrived in Abu Dhabi on a daylong official visit at the invitation of the UAE President. He was received at Al Bateen Airport by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE’s National Security Advisor and brother of the President, who later accompanied him to the palace.
Secretary General of the UAE Supreme National Security Council Ali Ahmed Al Shamsi, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, and other senior diplomatic staff were also present to receive the prime minister.
