JEDDAH, Tuesday, August 26, 2025 (WNP): Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the weekly Cabinet session in Jeddah on Tuesday, where Saudi Arabia renewed its call for immediate international intervention to halt the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and reviewed a wide-ranging domestic and international agenda.

The Cabinet was briefed on a message from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi regarding bilateral ties, as well as on his meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman and the latter’s phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both engagements, the Cabinet noted, underscored the Kingdom’s constructive role in promoting dialogue and peace to resolve international crises.

Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet expressed grave concern over the famine in Gaza and the “war of genocide” being waged against Palestinians, urging the UN Security Council’s permanent members to act swiftly. It also reaffirmed Saudi support for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) extraordinary meeting in Jeddah, which called for collective action to end Israeli aggression and prevent attempts to entrench occupation.

The Cabinet strongly condemned Israeli incursions into Syria and reaffirmed Riyadh’s support for Syria’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial unity, rejecting any separatist agendas. It also called on Sudanese factions to honor the Jeddah Declaration of May 2023, prioritize the protection of civilians, and ensure humanitarian access.

Domestically, the Cabinet welcomed statistics on the rising number of Umrah performers this year, pledging full support for pilgrims from arrival to departure. It commended the King Abdulaziz International Quran Competition, which drew 179 contestants from 128 countries, as well as the national blood donation campaign initiated by the Crown Prince.

The session also highlighted progress on Saudi Vision 2030 initiatives. The Human Resources Development Fund was praised for helping employ 267,000 Saudis in the private sector during the first half of 2025. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince’s backing of the Esports World Cup was cited as part of a broader national strategy to build a globally competitive gaming industry, projected to create 39,000 jobs and contribute SAR 50 billion to GDP by 2030.

The Cabinet approved a series of international agreements covering industrial security, Islamic affairs, mineral resources, health, aviation, and disability rights, including cooperation with Indonesia, India, China (Hong Kong), Venezuela, Kuwait, Cyprus, and The Gambia.

The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships while advancing its domestic development agenda.
