JEDDAH, Friday, March 27, 2026 (WNP): Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Group of Seven meetings for the third consecutive year as an invited country highlights the Kingdom’s growing global influence and strategic relevance, according to media consultant Dr. Naif Alotaibi.
Dr. Alotaibi, who holds a PhD from the University of Sussex, said the continued presence of Saudi Arabia at the G7 underscores increasing international recognition of its political, economic and diplomatic weight.
He said the participation of Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud reflects Riyadh’s proactive engagement with leading global economies at a time of evolving geopolitical dynamics.
“The Kingdom’s repeated invitation to the G7 is not symbolic, but indicative of its growing role in addressing major global challenges,” Dr. Alotaibi observed, adding that Saudi Arabia has emerged as an influential player in areas such as energy security, economic stability and regional diplomacy.
The G7 comprises major industrialized nations — the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan — and invites select partner countries to contribute to discussions on global economic and security issues.
Dr. Alotaibi emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s continued engagement with the forum reflects its ability to act as a bridge between developed and developing economies, as well as between Western powers and the broader Muslim world.
He further noted that Riyadh’s diplomatic outreach and participation in multilateral platforms align with its broader vision of strengthening international partnerships and enhancing its global standing.
According to Dr. Alotaibi, the Kingdom’s role in global energy markets, combined with its increasing involvement in regional conflict mediation and international cooperation initiatives, has positioned it as a key stakeholder in shaping global policy debates.
Saudi Arabia’s third consecutive participation in the G7, he said, sends a clear message that the Kingdom is not only a regional power but also an emerging global actor with a growing voice in international decision-making processes.
