PESHAWAR, Tuesday, October 20, 2025 (WNP): The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), in collaboration with the Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement Department (RRSD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and its implementation partner Peace and Development Organization (PADO), has launched a major livelihood initiative aimed at strengthening economic resilience among vulnerable households in the province.
The project, titled “Economic Empowerment of Vulnerable Households in Pakistan through Livestock Provision,” seeks to enhance food security, promote self-reliance, and generate sustainable income opportunities for families across 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Additional Secretary RRSD Mr. Noor ul Amin as Chief Guest and His Excellency Abdullah Al-Baqami, Director of KSrelief Pakistan. The event also brought together representatives from UN agencies, government institutions, development partners, and the media.
Speaking on the occasion, Al-Baqami said the project symbolizes the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan and reflects KSrelief’s continued commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable development.
He said the Kingdom, through KSrelief, remains steadfast in its mission to help strengthen livelihoods and improve the well-being of those affected by poverty and disasters.

Under the initiative:
- 1,000 families from Lower Chitral, Upper Chitral, Lower Dir, and Upper Dir will receive two female goats each, along with silage and training in livestock management.
- 1,000 families from Swat, Swabi, Haripur, and Mansehra will receive 25 poultry birds per household, a complete poultry kit, and training in poultry care and small-scale entrepreneurship.
- 500 families from Charsadda, Mardan, and Nowshera will receive cattle and feed, coupled with practical training in animal care and dairy production.

Each component will be implemented with technical support from the Livestock Department to ensure long-term sustainability and measurable impact.
In his remarks, Chief Guest Noor ul Amin lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued humanitarian assistance through KSrelief and appreciated the strong coordination among implementing partners, including PADO and the Livestock Department.
He noted that the initiative will help reduce poverty, enhance food security, and promote economic stability—particularly in rural and disaster-affected areas where livelihoods are most at risk.

The project stands as another milestone in the growing partnership between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, combining humanitarian compassion with practical, sustainable action to empower local communities.
