KYIV, Monday, January 12, 2026 (WNP): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday said Russian forces are suffering losses of no fewer than 1,000 soldiers killed each day, a rate he said has persisted since December, underscoring what he described as the human cost Moscow is willing to bear to prolong the war.

In a strongly worded statement, President Zelenskyy said the scale of Russian casualties reflects a strategy aimed not at achieving peace, but at preventing the conflict from ending. He termed the situation “madness,” warning that such aggression poses a broader threat to global security.

“This can only be stopped by combined forces — the forces of Europe and the United States, and the forces of all our partners,” Zelenskyy said, calling for sustained and unified international support for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that each day of the war serves as a stark reminder of the world’s vulnerability to unchecked aggression, emphasizing the need for collective resolve to defend international order and human life.

Reiterating gratitude to Ukraine’s allies, Zelenskyy thanked governments and individuals supporting the country’s people, defense efforts, and post-war recovery. He concluded with a message of national resilience and resolve, affirming Ukraine’s determination to resist and prevail.
