President Zardari congratulates Japan’s PM Sanae Takaichi on historic election victory, reaffirms strong bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD, Monday, February 9, 2026 (WNP): President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday extended warm congratulations to Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on the landslide victory of her Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) in Japan’s lower house elections, describing the outcome as a historic mandate that reflects the Japanese people’s strong confidence in her leadership.

In his congratulatory message, President Zardari noted that the commanding majority secured by the LDP in the House of Representatives represents a post-1955 record for the party, underscoring broad public endorsement of Prime Minister Takaichi’s policy direction and governance agenda at a critical juncture for Japan.

The President observed that the decisive electoral verdict demonstrated the electorate’s trust in Prime Minister Takaichi’s vision and commitment to building a strong, stable, and prosperous Japan.

He expressed confidence that, under her leadership, Japan would continue to advance national progress, economic resilience, and regional stability.

President Zardari conveyed his best wishes to Prime Minister Takaichi for success in discharging the responsibilities entrusted to her by the Japanese people.
