PM Shehbaz Sharif, President Ilham Aliyev vow to deepen Pakistan-Azerbaijan strategic partnership

BAKU, Saturday, November 8, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a high-level meeting with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Palace in Baku, focusing on expanding the strategic partnership between the two brotherly nations.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), underscoring the growing defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Aliyev for inviting him to attend the Victory Day celebrations of Azerbaijan, marking the fifth anniversary of the country’s triumph in the 44-day Patriotic War.

Both leaders reviewed the entire spectrum of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their shared resolve to further deepen collaboration in multiple sectors, including politics, trade and investment, energy, regional connectivity, and defence cooperation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended a formal invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience, which the Azerbaijani leader graciously accepted, reflecting the warmth and mutual respect that continue to define Pakistan-Azerbaijan relations.
