PM Shehbaz meets US Vice President JD Vance on sidelines of Islamabad Talks, hopes for ‘durable peace’

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, April 11, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a meeting with United States Vice President J. D. Vance on the sidelines of the Islamabad Talks, as high-level diplomatic engagements formally commenced in the federal capital.

The US Vice President was accompanied by Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior official Jared Kushner.

The Prime Minister was assisted by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Senator Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the commitment of both delegations to engage constructively in the dialogue process and expressed hope that the Islamabad Talks would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.

Reiterating Pakistan’s role as a facilitator, the Prime Minister underscored Islamabad’s willingness to continue supporting both sides in making meaningful progress toward sustainable peace.

The meeting comes as Pakistan hosts key international stakeholders for the talks, positioning Islamabad at the center of diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation and long-term regional stability.
