PM Shehbaz arrives in Qatar on two-day official visit

DOHA, Monday, February 23, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday arrived in Qatar on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The prime minister was received at King Hamad International Airport in Doha by Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, along with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar, Muhammad Amir, and senior diplomatic officials.

Accompanying the prime minister are Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

The visit is expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding economic and investment cooperation, and enhancing collaboration in energy, trade and regional connectivity.

Pakistan and Qatar share longstanding diplomatic ties, underpinned by cooperation in energy, labour, and strategic dialogue.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to hold talks with the Qatari leadership to review the full spectrum of bilateral relations and explore avenues for further deepening partnership between the two countries.
