PM Shehbaz arrives in Malaysia to bolster bilateral cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR, Sunday,  October 5, 2025 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sunday for an official visit aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s multifaceted partnership with Malaysia.

At Kuala Lumpur’s Bunga Raya International Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Malaysia’s Minister of Information and Communications Fahmi Fadzil, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah, and senior diplomatic officials. He was later escorted to his residence under royal protocol.

Upon his arrival, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim warmly welcomed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and extended greetings on behalf of the Malaysian government and people.

“It gives me great pleasure to be in Malaysia, and I thank Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for the warm hospitality,” Shehbaz Sharif said. “This visit will further strengthen the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.”

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi.

During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will hold one-on-one and delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. The discussions will focus on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, information technology, telecommunications, education, energy, infrastructure, the halal industry, and the digital economy.

Both sides are also expected to sign several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to enhance collaboration across diverse sectors and explore new avenues for strengthening people-to-people linkages.

The visit, undertaken at the invitation of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, is seen as a key step toward deepening the historic and friendly relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, reinforcing their shared commitment to regional development and prosperity.
