Pakistan’s UNSC Presidency: Ishaq Dar, UN Chief discuss global peace, security agenda

ISLAMABAD, Sunday, July 13, 2025 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar received a telephone call from United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres on Sunday to discuss matters of mutual interest in the context of Pakistan’s ongoing presidency of the UN Security Council (UNSC).

As Pakistan assumes the rotating presidency of the Council for the month of July, Senator Dar reaffirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to promoting international peace and security, as well as the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

He briefed the UN Secretary-General on the Signature Events being organized by Pakistan during its presidency to advance key global objectives, including dialogue, conflict prevention, and multilateral cooperation.

Both leaders expressed their intent to further engage during high-level events in New York next week, which will mark a critical phase of Pakistan’s leadership at the UNSC.

Senator Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s longstanding support for the United Nations and its personnel, assuring continued facilitation in enabling the organization to effectively carry out its global mandate.
