ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, July 29, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan on Tuesday extended a warm welcome to the successful conclusion of a special diplomatic meeting hosted by Malaysia, which led to an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand amid recent deadly border clashes.

In an official statement, the Foreign Office spokesperson praised the breakthrough, calling it a positive step toward regional peace and stability.

“Pakistan welcomes the successful conclusion of the special meeting hosted by Malaysia on the Cambodia-Thailand situation. We appreciate the spirit of dialogue and express hope for a peaceful resolution through diplomacy and regional cooperation,” the spokesperson said.

The border skirmishes between Cambodia and Thailand had raised international concern over potential escalation in Southeast Asia. The ceasefire agreement, brokered with Malaysia’s facilitation, marks a significant de-escalation in tensions and a recommitment to peaceful dialogue.

Islamabad’s response reflects its consistent support for peaceful conflict resolution and multilateral diplomacy in regional disputes. Pakistan also commended Malaysia’s role as a responsible regional actor in promoting dialogue and defusing conflict through constructive engagement.

The development is seen as a boost to ASEAN-led efforts for regional peace and a model for conflict resolution through diplomacy and cooperative frameworks.
