SINGAPORE, Friday, May 16, 2025 (WNP): The High Commission of Pakistan in Singapore made a vibrant mark at the second edition of the Asian Village Festival, a three-day celebration of Asia’s rich cultural and culinary diversity taking place from May 16 to 18 in Singapore.

The festival was officially inaugurated by H.E. Rabia Shafiq, High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore, alongside ambassadors from other participating Asian countries. The event brought together diplomatic missions, cultural organizations, and local communities in a colorful showcase of traditions from across the continent.

Pakistan’s pavilion stood out as a lively hub of activity, offering visitors an immersive glimpse into the country’s diverse heritage, scenic tourist destinations, and culinary excellence. One of the major highlights was the display and sampling of premium Pakistani Basmati rice and spices, which drew widespread appreciation from both local and international visitors.

In addition to gastronomic offerings, the pavilion featured a curated collection of books and publications on Pakistan’s history, culture, and tourism, sparking interest among culture and travel enthusiasts. A promotional video presenting Pakistan’s breathtaking landscapes—from the towering peaks of the north to the historical richness of the southern regions—was screened during the opening ceremony, capturing the imagination of the audience.

Diplomats, dignitaries, and festival attendees from various countries visited the Pakistani booth, engaging with High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq and her team to learn more about Pakistan’s cultural depth and tourism potential.

The festive ambiance was further enhanced by captivating cultural performances, including traditional peacock dances and a dynamic dragon dance, showcasing the diversity of Asian arts and customs.

In her remarks at the event, High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq thanked the organizers for hosting the festival and inviting the High Commission to participate. She noted that platforms like the Asian Village Festival play a vital role in fostering people-to-people connections, promoting Pakistan’s soft image, and encouraging cross-cultural understanding and tourism on the international stage.

The Asian Village Festival continues to serve as an important cultural bridge, celebrating Asia’s shared heritage while highlighting the unique contributions of each participating nation.
