ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 23, 2025 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to multilateralism and a reformed, inclusive and people-centred United Nations, as the world body marks its 80th anniversary.
Speaking as the Chief Guest at the UN Day ceremony hosted by the UN Resident Coordinator and the UN Country Team here, Dar emphasized the need to restore global trust in multilateral cooperation amid escalating geopolitical tensions, deepening inequalities, and mounting climate challenges.

He underscored that the founding principles of the UN—peace, justice, and equality—remain as relevant today as they were in 1945. “In a world marked by growing instability, we must rebuild faith in collective action to address global crises and ensure no nation or people are left behind,” he said.
Reiterating Pakistan’s principled stance on long-standing international disputes, Dar called for the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine issues in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the affected peoples. “Justice for the people of Kashmir and Palestine remains essential for durable global peace,” he stated.

Highlighting Pakistan’s upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025–26, the Deputy Prime Minister said Islamabad would continue to advocate for peace, dialogue, and sustainable development. “As a member of the Security Council, Pakistan will work constructively to strengthen multilateralism and uphold the UN’s credibility as a pillar of international peace and cooperation,” he added.
The ceremony, attended by senior diplomats, government officials, and representatives of the UN system in Pakistan, marked 80 years of the United Nations’ founding—a moment to reflect on the institution’s achievements and the collective responsibility to advance its mission in an increasingly complex global landscape.
