Pakistan, Jordan vow to deepen defence cooperation as COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir meets King Abdullah II

AMMAN, Monday, October 27, 2025 (WNP): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, who is currently on an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, held a meeting with His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces, to discuss ways to further strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two brotherly nations.

During the meeting, both leaders exchanged views on regional security developments and emphasized the importance of enhancing military collaboration through joint training, capacity building, and exchange of expertise.

The COAS conveyed warm greetings from the people, Government, and Armed Forces of Pakistan to King Abdullah II, reaffirming Islamabad’s unwavering commitment to advancing its long-standing fraternal partnership with Amman.

King Abdullah II commended the professionalism and contributions of the Pakistan Armed Forces toward promoting regional peace and stability. He expressed his keen interest in expanding bilateral defence cooperation and appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support to Jordan in multiple fields.

Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II was also present during the meeting.

Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir met Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Huneiti at the General Headquarters in Amman. Upon arrival, the COAS was accorded a warm welcome and presented with a Guard of Honour.

Both sides reaffirmed the deep-rooted and historic ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Jordan and discussed measures to further enhance institutional cooperation.

Major General Al-Huneiti lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces’ vital role in promoting regional peace, counterterrorism efforts, and stability, and emphasized Jordan’s resolve to strengthen defence collaboration with Pakistan in the years ahead.

The visit marks another step forward in the decades-long partnership between Pakistan and Jordan, built on shared values of brotherhood, mutual respect, and cooperation for regional peace and security.
