SINGAPORE, Sunday, May 18, 2025 (WNP): The High Commission of Pakistan in Singapore on Sunday observed Youm-e-Tashakur (Day of Gratitude) to commemorate the historic victory of Marka-e-Haq and pay homage to the courage and sacrifices of the Armed Forces of Pakistan and the unyielding spirit of the Pakistani people.

The solemn ceremony was attended by over 60 members of the Pakistani community, who joined the High Commission in expressing deep appreciation for the Armed Forces’ valour and the nation’s unity in the face of recent Indian aggression.

In her remarks, High Commissioner Rabia Shafiq paid glowing tribute to the bravery of the Pakistani Armed Forces, describing their response to unprovoked Indian hostilities as a powerful and disciplined display of national strength. She highlighted the successful execution of Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, which, she noted, had not only restored strategic balance in South Asia but also reaffirmed Pakistan’s credible deterrence capability.

The High Commissioner praised the unity demonstrated by the entire Pakistani nation, including overseas communities, during the crisis. She underscored the country’s robust diplomatic engagement that effectively countered India’s false narratives and exposed its misinformation campaign at the global level.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to peace and responsible conduct, she emphasized that the country responded with restraint and maturity, targeting only military installations in self-defence. She also warned against India’s continued efforts to destabilize Pakistan, including its attempts to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty and its role in sponsoring terrorism within Pakistani territory.

Addressing the broader regional context, High Commissioner Shafiq reiterated the urgent need for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, calling on the international community to hold India accountable to its commitments under relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Community members also shared heartfelt messages, expressing their pride and deep gratitude to the Armed Forces for protecting the country’s sovereignty and defending innocent civilians, including women and children, against unprovoked attacks.

The ceremony concluded with special prayers for the souls of the martyred civilians and military personnel, as well as for the swift recovery of the injured.
