ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, February 3, 2026 (WNP): Pakistan accorded a ceremonial and symbolic welcome to President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as his presidential aircraft entered Pakistani airspace on Tuesday, underscoring the growing warmth and strategic significance of bilateral ties between the two countries.
A squadron of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets escorted the Kazakh president’s aircraft, a gesture traditionally reserved for visiting heads of state and reflecting Pakistan’s diplomatic courtesies and respect for friendly nations.
Upon interception, the formation leader conveyed a warm message of welcome to President Tokayev on behalf of the Prime Minister and the people of Pakistan.
Officials said the aerial escort highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening relations with Kazakhstan and symbolised the enduring friendship and mutual goodwill shared by the two countries. The gesture also reflected the professionalism and preparedness of the Pakistan Air Force in supporting state diplomacy and fostering international partnerships.
President Tokayev’s visit is seen as an important milestone in Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations, with both sides seeking to expand cooperation across political, economic, trade, connectivity, and people-to-people domains. Islamabad and Astana have in recent years intensified high-level exchanges, aiming to promote regional peace, stability, and sustainable development.
The ceremonial welcome by the armed forces of Pakistan reaffirmed the country’s resolve to deepen engagement with Kazakhstan and further strengthen ties rooted in mutual respect, shared interests, and a common vision for regional cooperation.
