Pakistan committed to deepening parliamentary ties with Uzbekistan: NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq

ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, June 17, 2025 (WNP): National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Tuesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation with Uzbekistan, emphasizing that enhanced engagement between the two legislatures would contribute significantly to deepening bilateral relations.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, who called on him at the Parliament House.

The Speaker highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its fraternal and cordial relations with Uzbekistan, noting that the expansion of parliamentary friendship groups and greater institutional exchanges would further consolidate the growing partnership between the two countries.

Ambassador Tukhtaev, in turn, lauded Pakistan’s political leadership for its constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability. He also praised the recent successful visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan, describing it as a milestone in bilateral relations.

The envoy commended Ayaz Sadiq’s leadership, referring to him as a seasoned and visionary statesman whose contributions extend beyond Pakistan to the broader region.

Ambassador Tukhtaev extended a formal invitation to Speaker Sadiq to lead a parliamentary delegation to Uzbekistan, expressing hope that such a visit would strengthen institutional ties and open new avenues for collaboration.

He also stressed the importance of enhancing trade, economic cooperation, and business-to-business linkages, pointing out that Uzbekistan offers a favorable investment climate and promising opportunities for Pakistani entrepreneurs.

In addition, the ambassador proposed enhanced parliamentary exchanges focused on gender equality, inclusive legislation, and other shared priorities, underscoring the need for sustained dialogue at all levels of governance.
