Pakistan, Bangladesh pledge to deepen defence cooperation amid evolving regional security dynamics

DHAKA, Tuesday, October 28, 2025 (WNP): General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) of Pakistan, on Tuesday met General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Army Staff of Bangladesh, during an official visit to the Army Headquarters in Dhaka.

The meeting underscored the growing momentum in Pakistan–Bangladesh defence relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to broadening cooperation across multiple domains, including training, joint military exercises, and counter-terrorism collaboration.

The two leaders held in-depth discussions on the regional and global security environment, emphasizing the importance of sustained military-to-military engagement and regular exchange visits at various levels of leadership to enhance mutual understanding and strategic coordination.

Both generals also addressed the emerging threat of disinformation and hybrid warfare, recognizing such challenges as a shared concern for national and regional stability. They agreed on the need for enhanced cooperation, capacity-building, and coordinated strategies to effectively counter misinformation and safeguard national interests.

The visit of General Sahir Shamshad Mirza reflects Pakistan’s continued resolve to strengthen defence diplomacy and build mutually beneficial partnerships with friendly nations across South Asia and beyond.
