Pakistan Army vows decisive response to Indian aggression, warns against destabilization attempts

RAWALPINDI, Friday, May 2, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan’s top military leadership on Friday warned that any Indian attempt to impose war would be met with a “sure and decisive” response, while reaffirming the country’s unwavering commitment to peace, stability, and regional prosperity.

The strong message came during a Special Corps Commanders’ Conference (SCCC) held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, according to a press release issued by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The high-level huddle comprehensively reviewed the regional security situation, particularly in the aftermath of the Pahalgam incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), and emphasized the Pakistan Army’s resolve to protect national sovereignty in line with the aspirations of the Pakistani people.

In a strongly worded statement, the forum said, “Deliberate destabilization efforts by the Indian government, whether through state actors or proxies, will be confronted and defeated with resolve and clarity.”

Expressing grave concern over India’s intensified atrocities in IIOJK and the continued targeting of civilians along the Line of Control (LoC), the forum termed such actions as provocations that dangerously escalate regional tensions. It reiterated that these violations would be met with a firm and proportionate response.

The commanders also expressed alarm over India’s alleged attempts to politicize and manipulate the Pahalgam incident, accusing New Delhi of using such crises to externalize internal failures. “This follows a familiar pattern, reminiscent of 2019’s Pulwama incident, which was exploited to revoke Article 370 and alter the status of IIOJK,” the statement noted.

The forum further cautioned that the current crisis appears to be part of a broader Indian strategy to divert Pakistan’s attention from its western border and ongoing efforts for economic recovery — two domains in which Pakistan is gaining momentum. “Such diversionary tactics aimed at providing operational breathing space to Indian terror proxies will never succeed,” it stated.

In a concerning development, the forum also highlighted India’s alleged bid to undermine the Indus Waters Treaty by leveraging the Pahalgam episode. “This dangerous attempt to weaponize water poses a direct threat to the livelihoods of over 240 million Pakistanis and risks destabilizing the strategic balance in South Asia,” the statement warned.

Credible evidence, the forum added, points to direct Indian military and intelligence involvement in orchestrating terrorist activities inside Pakistan — actions it termed as clear violations of international law and norms.

Addressing the forum, General Asim Munir lauded the professionalism, high morale, and operational readiness of the Pakistan Armed Forces, emphasizing their unity with the nation and their resolve to defend the homeland under any circumstances.

He stressed the need for heightened vigilance and proactive readiness across all domains, concluding the session with full confidence in the army’s preparedness, deterrence capabilities, and strategic strength to counter any threat.
