RAWALPINDI, Thursday, July 17, 2025 (WNP): A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), featuring its latest JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets and a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft, touched down at Royal Air Force Base Fairford in the United Kingdom to participate in the prestigious Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) 2025—one of the world’s largest military airshows.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), PAF’s participation underscores its commitment to showcasing professional excellence, operational readiness, and the growing prowess of Pakistan’s indigenous aviation industry.
Marking a significant operational feat, the PAF JF-17 Block-III fighters successfully conducted Air-to-Air Refuelling enroute to the UK with support from a PAF IL-78 aerial refuelling tanker. The complex mid-air refuelling operation highlights PAF’s long-range mission capability and the technical expertise of its air and ground crews.
The JF-17 Block-III, Pakistan’s latest multi-role 4.5-generation combat aircraft, is equipped with cutting-edge AESA radar and long-range Beyond Visual Range (BVR) missiles, capable of executing a broad spectrum of modern combat missions. Its presence at RIAT has already drawn global attention for its combat-proven capabilities, particularly in light of recent regional tensions with India.
The aircraft’s performance at RIAT is expected to be a key highlight for defence analysts and aviation enthusiasts, who have shown heightened interest in the aircraft amid shifting geopolitical dynamics in South Asia.
PAF’s participation in such a prestigious event not only projects Pakistan’s technological advancement and operational competence but also strengthens defence diplomacy and international recognition of its growing aerospace capabilities.
