MOSCOW, Saturday, October 11, 2025 (WNP): The Russian capital is set to host the first-ever Diamond Butterfly Open Eurasian Film Awards on November 24, a new international cultural initiative established by the Russian Ministry of Culture and the Russian Cultural Foundation to celebrate cinematic works that promote moral, spiritual, and cultural unity across Eurasia.
The event aims to support high-quality cinema that embodies values of humanity, creativity, and cultural harmony, while fostering collaboration among filmmakers from across the Eurasian continent.

Elena Golovnina, Director General of the Russian Cultural Foundation, emphasized the event’s mission to champion traditional values through cinema.
“Today, when parts of world cinema promote ideas far removed from traditional values, our award offers a timely alternative,” she said. “We believe that true art should bring light and hope, unite people, and reinforce eternal moral values. These are the types of films we will support through the Diamond Butterfly initiative.”
The main award, a diamond-encrusted butterfly sculpture designed by renowned artist Yuri Cooper, will be presented to winners in twelve categories, each also receiving cash prizes of up to one million dollars.

The Diamond Butterfly Awards follow the launch of the Eurasian Academy of Cinematic Arts in April 2025, which brought together representatives from film communities across more than 20 countries, including Pakistan, India, Iran, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Vietnam, Venezuela, Serbia, Cuba, Tajikistan, and Armenia.
Organizers say the ceremony will mark a new chapter in Eurasian cultural cooperation, showcasing films that highlight shared human values and the transformative power of art to connect nations beyond borders.
