ISLAMABAD, Saturday, August 2, 2025 (WNP): President of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Islamabad on Saturday for a two-day official visit aimed at deepening Pakistan-Iran relations and advancing regional cooperation.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar warmly received the Iranian president and his high-powered delegation at Nur Khan Airbase.

A 21-gun salute marked the ceremonial welcome for Dr. Pezeshkian, while children in traditional attire presented bouquets in a gesture of cultural warmth and hospitality.

Dr. Pezeshkian’s delegation includes Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, senior cabinet members, and top officials, underlining the significance Tehran places on this diplomatic engagement.

According to the Foreign Office, this marks Dr. Pezeshkian’s first official visit to Pakistan since assuming office, and follows Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Iran on May 26, 2025.

During his stay, the Iranian President is scheduled to meet President Asif Ali Zardari and hold wide-ranging delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and key members of the cabinet.

The visit is expected to culminate in the signing of multiple agreements aimed at boosting cooperation in trade, energy, infrastructure, and security—further strengthening the longstanding brotherly ties between the two neighboring nations.
