Iran pays tribute to Benazir Bhutto, hails her legacy of courage, social justice

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, December 27, 2025 (WNP): Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, on Saturday paid a solemn tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her martyrdom anniversary, describing her as a visionary leader whose courage, commitment to democratic values and advocacy for social justice left an enduring imprint on Pakistan and the wider region.

In a message issued on December 27, observed as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Day, the Iranian ambassador said Benazir Bhutto’s life and leadership continue to inspire generations through her dedication to public service, human values and the empowerment of the people of Pakistan.

“Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s legacy of public service, advocacy for human values, and unwavering commitment to the empowerment of the people of Pakistan continue to inspire not only within the country but across the region,” Ambassador Moghadam said. He noted that her sacrifices in pursuit of social justice remain a powerful source of reflection and resolve.

Expressing solidarity with Pakistan on the day of remembrance, the Iranian envoy extended his heartfelt sentiments to the Government and the people of Pakistan, describing them as a “brotherly nation.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran stands in solidarity with Pakistan in honoring the legacy of a leader whose life and ideals continue to resonate,” the ambassador said, adding that Benazir Bhutto’s memory should serve as a guiding light in the collective pursuit of peace, humanity and prosperity.

Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan’s first woman prime minister and a symbol of democratic struggle, was assassinated on December 27, 2007. Her anniversary is marked annually across Pakistan and beyond, with leaders and dignitaries paying tribute to her political legacy, personal sacrifices and enduring influence on democratic movements in the region.
