TEHRAN, Sunday, March 15, 2026 (WNP) Iran has launched a Sejjil medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) as part of the 54th wave of its ongoing “Operation True Promise 4,” the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Sunday, marking a further escalation in the ongoing conflict with Israel.
According to a statement issued by the IRGC’s public relations office and carried by Iranian media, the latest barrage targeted Israeli military and strategic sites, including command centers connected to aerial operations as well as defense-industrial infrastructure and troop assembly points inside Israeli territory.
The Iranian military said the attack was carried out under the operational code “Ya Zahra (peace be upon her)”, and that the Sejjil solid-fuel missile was deployed during the wave of strikes.
The Sejjil is a two-stage solid-fuel ballistic missile with an estimated range of around 2,000 kilometers, capable of carrying a substantial payload and designed to reach targets across the Middle East, including Israel.
Iran’s missile campaign is part of the broader Operation True Promise 4, which Tehran says is a retaliatory response to Israeli and US military actions against Iranian territory and interests. The operation has involved repeated waves of missile and drone strikes on Israeli and allied targets across the region over the past weeks.
Regional tensions have sharply intensified as both sides exchange strikes, raising fears of a wider Middle East conflict while air defense systems in Israel remain on high alert for further incoming missiles.
