Iran congratulates Pakistan on election to UN Human Rights Council, hails shared commitment to global cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Thursday, October 16, 2025 (WNP): The Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam on Thursday extended heartfelt congratulations to the Government and people of Pakistan on the country’s election to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for the sixth time, securing an impressive 178 votes in the UN General Assembly.

The Iranian envoy said Pakistan’s election with such a strong mandate demonstrates the international community’s continued confidence in its principled diplomacy and its steadfast commitment to promoting and protecting human rights at the global level.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have long enjoyed exemplary cooperation across various international fora, including the UN Human Rights Council,” Ambassador Moghadam noted.

He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s renewed membership on the Council will create fresh opportunities to deepen bilateral collaboration, particularly in advancing shared objectives in human rights, mutual understanding, and multilateral engagement.

The ambassador reaffirmed Iran’s support for Pakistan’s leadership in the UNHRC and underscored the importance of joint efforts by both nations to strengthen peace, justice, and human dignity in the region and beyond.
