RAWALPINDI, Monday, January 12, 2026 (WNP): Indonesia’s Minister of Defence, Lieutenant General (Retd) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, on Monday called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF), at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, underscoring the growing momentum in defence ties between the two countries.
According to ISPR, the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional and global security dynamics, and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional linkages, expanding training collaboration, and advancing cooperation in the defence industrial sector.
The Indonesian defence minister lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
He also conveyed Indonesia’s desire to further broaden defence relations with Pakistan across multiple domains, reflecting shared security concerns and converging strategic interests.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fostering a strong, enduring, and mutually beneficial defence partnership with Indonesia, rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and close strategic cooperation.
The engagement highlighted the importance both countries place on defence diplomacy as a means to promote regional stability and enhance collective security cooperation.
