RIYADH, Sunday, July 19, 2026 (WNP): The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), in cooperation with the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT), on Sunday launched a specialized legal training program on countering terrorist financing at its headquarters in Riyadh, aimed at enhancing the capabilities of member states in combating terrorism financing.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, representatives of IMCTC member states, and 25 participants from Palestine and Chad.

Scheduled to run from July 19 to 23, the program seeks to strengthen the legal, institutional, and operational capacities of personnel serving in law enforcement agencies, financial intelligence units, public prosecution offices, and other relevant institutions responsible for combating terrorist financing.

Participants will receive specialized training in detecting, investigating, and prosecuting terrorist financing crimes in accordance with international legal obligations, including United Nations Security Council resolutions and the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).

The program also focuses on reinforcing international cooperation mechanisms through mutual legal assistance, extradition procedures, joint investigations, and information-sharing to improve coordinated responses against terrorist financing.

The initiative forms part of IMCTC’s broader strategic efforts to build the capacities of its member states across its four key pillars: ideological affairs, media, counter-terrorist financing, and military cooperation, reaffirming the Coalition’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships in the global fight against terrorism and its financing.
