SHANGHAI, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 (WNP): At MWC Shanghai 2025, Huawei unveiled a sweeping vision for the future of telecoms powered by artificial intelligence, showcasing major advancements in 5G Advanced (5G-A) technology, AI-driven network operations, and experience monetization.

Under the theme “Accelerating the Intelligent World,” Huawei is hosting an extensive exhibition aimed at global telecom carriers, industry leaders, and technology partners. The company is demonstrating how AI agents and 5G-A innovations can drive service transformation, operational efficiency, and new revenue models.

AI-Powered Innovations and Monetization Models

Huawei spotlighted three main focus areas: services, infrastructure, and operations.

In services, the company announced successful implementations of 5G-A experience monetization and scenario-based AI-to-everything (AI-to-X) applications developed in collaboration with China’s three major telecom operators. These projects are unlocking new revenue opportunities by offering enhanced user experiences across smart living, mobility, and industrial automation.

On the infrastructure front, Huawei is presenting how AI-centric networks are enabling more intelligent operations. Carrier partners are sharing case studies on building computing hubs and deploying Huawei’s newly launched AI Ultra-Broadband (AI UBB) solution—an end-to-end architecture covering everything from home broadband to transport networks, designed to accelerate the shift toward autonomous networks.

In operations, Huawei and China’s top carriers are highlighting achievements in intelligent wireless network management, smart home broadband services, and AI computing solutions for model training and inference. These practices help carriers better utilize and scale computing power while improving operational agility.

Global Expansion and Commercial Adoption

With commercial 5G-A rollouts gaining momentum, especially in China, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific, Huawei noted a significant rise in premium service models. Over 300 Chinese cities now offer 5G-A services, with more than 10 million active users. Operators are tapping into premium data plans and enhanced network features to monetize differentiated experiences.

Telecom Industry at an Inflection Point

Huawei’s Deputy Chairman and Rotating Chairman Eric Xu delivered a keynote outlining the evolving landscape of the telecom industry. He acknowledged that the sector, after decades of hyper-growth, has entered a more stable phase but faces pressure to identify fresh growth engines.

Xu proposed four strategic pathways to renew momentum:

  1. Responding to changing consumer needs with high-growth services.
  2. Expanding HD video creation and consumption.
  3. Bringing 5G to intelligent vehicles for next-gen mobility.
  4. Extending FTTR (Fiber to the Room) to micro and small businesses to leverage AI potential.

“Every carrier faces unique market dynamics,” Xu said. “Huawei is ready to work closely with partners to explore their individual growth paths and build long-term, sustainable business models.”

AI Transforming Carriers into Experience Providers

As AI reshapes the digital landscape, carriers are evolving beyond traditional connectivity providers. They’re increasingly offering personalized, integrated AI agents for homes, vehicles, and enterprise ecosystems.

In the smart home sector, AI agents are enabling seamless interaction between devices, creating companion-like environments. In mobility, telecoms are integrating V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) technologies to provide immersive in-car experiences. For enterprise customers, carriers are enhancing computing and model-based services that will revolutionize operations and manufacturing.

Huawei concluded that the telecom sector is on the brink of an AI-led transformation. The convergence of computing, networking, and intelligence will unlock a new era of growth, redefine human-technology interaction, and reshape entire industries.
