RAWALPINDI, Thursday, December 11, 2025 (WNP): The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday announced that a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) has sentenced former Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding him guilty on multiple charges under the Pakistan Army Act.
According to ISPR, proceedings against the former senior military officer began on August 12, 2024, and continued for over 15 months.
He was tried on four charges, including engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner detrimental to national security, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.
Following what ISPR described as “lengthy and laborious” legal proceedings, the court found the accused guilty on all charges. The sentence was officially promulgated on December 11, 2025.
The military’s media wing emphasized that the FGCM fully complied with all legal provisions and ensured the accused received every legal right, including the option to be represented by a defence team of his choice. The convict retains the right to appeal before the competent forum.
ISPR further stated that the former officer’s involvement in “fomenting vested political agitation and instability in collusion with political elements,” along with certain other matters, is being addressed separately.
The conviction marks one of the most high-profile military accountability cases in recent years, underscoring the armed forces’ stated commitment to discipline, rule of law, and institutional integrity.
