ISLAMABAD, Friday, July 18, 2025 (WNP): Senior politician and former federal minister Mohammad Ali Durrani on Friday met Denis Nevzorov, the newly appointed Head of Russia’s Trade Department in Pakistan, to congratulate him on his new assignment and extend warm wishes to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Welcoming Nevzorov to Islamabad, Durrani described his appointment as a positive development for deepening Pakistan-Russia relations. The two leaders engaged in a wide-ranging discussion focused on enhancing bilateral trade, agricultural cooperation, and economic collaboration.
Durrani highlighted the untapped potential in Pakistan-Russia trade, particularly in agriculture and industrial development. He extended an open invitation for Russian investment in Pakistan Steel Mills, emphasizing the transformative impact of Russian technology on Pakistan’s agricultural productivity.
“Strengthening ties with Russia is not just a matter of bilateral interest but a step toward regional stability and global economic connectivity,” Durrani said.
Nevzorov, who was officially appointed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on July 11, appreciated Durrani’s forward-looking approach and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to expanding trade relations with Pakistan. He expressed confidence that under his tenure, the two countries would witness increased cooperation in key sectors.
