ISLAMABAD, Sunday, August 3, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Sunday met with the visiting Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian and reaffirmed Islamabad’s unwavering commitment to strengthening historic ties with Iran grounded in shared faith, cultural heritage, and mutual respect.
Extending a warm welcome to President Pezeshkian, Senator Dar emphasized Pakistan’s desire to enhance cooperation with Iran across political, economic, and strategic domains. He noted that the brotherly relationship between the two neighboring nations had always stood the test of time and must now evolve to meet modern challenges and opportunities.
President Pezeshkian, in response, appreciated Pakistan’s continuous support and reaffirmed Iran’s readiness to bolster collaboration in multiple sectors of mutual interest. He expressed hope that his engagements with Pakistani leadership would lay the groundwork for stronger and more productive political and economic ties.
Speaking to the media following the meeting, Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran, stating, “We stand by our brotherly country and will continue supporting Iran in trade, economic development, and all other areas of cooperation.”
He welcomed President Pezeshkian’s endorsement of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s vision to raise the bilateral trade volume to USD 10 billion. “It is very heartwarming, and indeed the need of the hour, to expand economic activities through enhanced coordination,” Dar added.
