Pakistan, Türkiye to maintain close consultations through R4 framework; ministers agree to meet on sidelines of UNGA in New York

ISLAMABAD, Thursday, September 10, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation late Wednesday night with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, during which the two ministers reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments of mutual interest.

The ministers reaffirmed their shared position on the situation in Palestine and expressed support for the joint statement issued by eight Arab-Islamic countries welcoming the United Kingdom’s decision to ban imports from illegal Israeli settlements and restrict services linked to such settlements.

They also endorsed the Joint Statement on the Two-State Solution issued by the United Kingdom and other European countries, reiterating the importance of international efforts aimed at advancing a peaceful and just resolution to the Palestine issue.

Dar and Fidan emphasized the importance of maintaining close consultations and coordination on regional matters, including through the Regional Four (R4) framework, involving Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

The two foreign ministers agreed to meet on the sidelines of the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York to further discuss bilateral relations and regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The conversation underscored the close coordination between Pakistan and Türkiye on key regional issues and their shared commitment to continued diplomatic engagement.
