Dar, Araghchi hold strategic talks to boost Pakistan-Iran ties ahead of leadership summit

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, August 2, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan and Iran took a step forward in enhancing bilateral engagement as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday met with his Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss matters of mutual interest.

Foreign Minister Araghchi is accompanying Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian on his landmark state visit to Pakistan from August 2–3.

In their meeting, the two foreign ministers held preliminary talks on a wide range of strategic issues expected to be addressed during the presidential-level discussions. Topics included regional developments, expansion of bilateral trade, energy cooperation, enhanced connectivity, and mechanisms for institutionalized consultation between the two nations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the historic and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran. They underscored the importance of sustained diplomatic dialogue, stronger economic and security collaboration, and efforts to boost people-to-people contacts.

The meeting sets the tone for further high-level deliberations aimed at charting a comprehensive roadmap for Pakistan-Iran cooperation in the evolving regional landscape.
