WASHINGTON, Friday, June 20, 2025 (WNP): During his official visit to the United States, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held an extensive and candid dialogue with senior scholars, policy experts, analysts, and representatives of leading international media organizations in Washington D.C., as part of a high-level engagement aimed at strengthening strategic understanding and cooperation.

The interaction, held with prominent U.S. think tanks and institutions dealing with strategic affairs, served as a platform to convey Pakistan’s principled stance on pressing regional and global challenges, while promoting a deeper appreciation of the country’s security perspective and strategic priorities.

In his remarks, Field Marshal Munir underscored Pakistan’s enduring commitment to regional peace and global stability, emphasizing Islamabad’s constructive role in advancing a rules-based international order. He elaborated on major military operations including Maarka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, offering insights into Pakistan’s comprehensive counter-terrorism strategy and the evolving nature of hybrid threats in the region.

Highlighting the continued threat posed by state-sponsored terrorism, the Army Chief cautioned against the malign influence of certain regional actors who deploy terrorism as a tool of asymmetric warfare. He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains on the frontline in the global fight against terrorism, having sacrificed significantly—both in human lives and economic cost—to safeguard not only its own security but also that of the wider international community.

Turning to economic and development potential, Field Marshal Munir spotlighted Pakistan’s emerging sectors, particularly in information technology, agriculture, and its vast mineral and mining resources. He invited international stakeholders to explore investment and partnership opportunities, emphasizing that collaborative development could yield mutual economic benefits.

Addressing regional geopolitics, the COAS reaffirmed Pakistan’s policy of balance, advocating for diplomacy, dialogue, and adherence to international law as the cornerstones of conflict resolution. He reiterated Pakistan’s responsible role in de-escalating tensions and promoting cooperative regional security frameworks.

The dialogue also included a comprehensive evaluation of the Pakistan–U.S. relationship. Field Marshal Munir highlighted historic areas of convergence—especially in counter-terrorism, security cooperation, and development—and advocated for broadening this partnership into a multidimensional relationship based on mutual respect, shared strategic interests, and economic collaboration.
