ISLAMABAD, Tuesday, July 22, 2025 (WNP): Prominent scholars, diplomats, and foreign policy experts on Tuesday described the rise of China as a stabilizing force in global politics, calling for a more balanced and nuanced understanding of Beijing’s expanding influence in the evolving world order.

They expressed these views at the launch of the book “China’s Globalisation and the New World Order”, hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) in the federak capital.

Edited by Dr. Adam Saud and Dr. Najimdeen Bakare, and published by Palgrave Macmillan, the volume brings together a diverse set of international perspectives on China’s strategic, economic, and institutional outreach. The book analyzes how China perceives itself and is perceived globally, offering critical insights into its growing influence and the varied global responses to its ascent.

The contributors examine a wide range of themes including China’s multilateral diplomacy, infrastructure globalization, green development, foreign economic assistance, and even its nuclear doctrine. Special attention is paid to China’s role in shaping institutional norms in the Global South, its complex relationship with Europe, and its challenge to the liberal world order.

Ambassador Jauhar Saleem, President of IRS, lauded the book as a timely and significant scholarly contribution, especially commending its strong Pakistani editorial and authorial representation. “This publication provides a platform for diverse voices and critical thinking around one of the most transformative powers of our era,” he remarked.

The book, featuring contributions from renowned institutions such as Georgetown University, University of São Paulo, University of Malaya, and University of Sargodha, received widespread acclaim for its depth and scope.

Notable speakers at the launch included: Dr. Adam Saud, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bahria University; Dr. Najimdeen Bakare, Professor, University of Malaya; Dr. Azam Khan, University of Sargodha; Dr. Rizwan Zeb, Air War College Karachi; Ambassador Ashraf Jehangir Qazi, former envoy to China, the US, and the UN; Ambassador Dr. Raza Muhammad, former President, Islamabad Policy Research Institute (IPRI) and Dr. Bilal Zubair, Director Research, Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS).

The event concluded with a call for continued scholarly dialogue on emerging global power dynamics and Pakistan’s place within them.
