MANAMA, Tuesday, March 3, 2026 (WNP): Unrest has broken out in the Kingdom of Bahrain amid escalating regional hostilities after Iran’s widespread missile and drone campaign across the Gulf.

Bahraini authorities and residents report confrontations and disturbances in public areas as tensions surge following attacks on Gulf states, including missile debris strikes within Bahrain that have already caused civilian casualties and infrastructure damage.

Authorities in Manama have been grappling with incidents of rioting and clashes between security forces and groups of civilians in several neighbourhoods following intense periods of explosions and air-raid alert sirens across the capital and surrounding areas.

While the government has not released full casualty figures from public disturbances, local sources indicate confrontations have occurred as residents express alarm and frustration at the deteriorating security situation.

The unrest appears to be linked to heightened public anxiety about frequent drone and missile alerts and the knock-on effects of strikes that targeted facilities in Bahrain amid the wider conflict involving Iran and U.S., Israeli and allied forces.

Earlier reports confirmed missile debris struck Bahraini territory, including at a shipyard near Manama, killing a Bangladeshi worker and injuring others, according to statements from Bangladesh’s ambassador and local authorities. The incident highlighted how the broader Gulf conflict is directly affecting civilian life in Bahrain.

Bahrain has also confirmed that its air defence systems engaged hostile threats over its airspace, with some projectiles intercepted and others falling in peripheral areas, prompting emergency responses by civil defence teams.

The Bahraini government, along with other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members, has strongly condemned the attacks, denouncing them as violations of sovereignty and stability. Gulf foreign ministers reaffirmed the right of member states to respond to aggression in an extraordinary meeting, underscoring regional unity against external threats.

Security forces remain on high alert, and Bahrain has tightened domestic measures to curb unrest and prevent further escalation within its borders.

Bahrain’s unrest comes as the Middle East faces one of its most severe security crises in decades, with Iranian strikes reported across multiple Gulf nations — including Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar — as part of Tehran’s retaliation after a joint U.S.–Israeli military operation earlier in the week. Gulf states are considering stronger collective defence measures as the conflict threatens regional stability and security cooperation.

The situation in Bahrain remains fluid, with ongoing developments likely as authorities balance internal security with external military and diplomatic pressures. Detailed official casualty figures and government responses are expected as events unfold.
