NA Speaker congratulates Saudi leadership and people; highlights shared faith, historic ties, parliamentary relations and importance of Makkah defence agreement
ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (WNP): Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Wednesday attended a reception held in Islamabad to mark the 96th National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as chief guest and joined Saudi Chargé d’Affaires Naif Bin Mlafakh in cutting the ceremonial cake.
On the occasion, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq extended heartfelt felicitations and best wishes to the Saudi leadership and people on their National Day.
The Speaker said Saudi Arabia was making remarkable progress under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, adding that the Kingdom’s extraordinary development and achievements were a source of pride for the Saudi people.
He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia enjoyed deep-rooted brotherly relations based on common faith, shared history and mutual respect, stressing that Pakistan highly valued its longstanding ties with the Kingdom.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said the two brotherly countries had stood by each other in difficult times, adding that their close relationship had continued to develop across political, diplomatic and parliamentary spheres.
He particularly highlighted the role of Pakistan-Saudi parliamentary relations in promoting mutual cooperation, understanding and people-to-people friendship. He said strong relations between the Parliament of Pakistan and the Saudi Shura Council served as an effective means of further strengthening the longstanding bonds between the two countries.
The Speaker said the close and friendly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were also contributing to peace, security and stability in the region.
He emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and security were of utmost importance to Pakistan, adding that Muslims around the world held the Kingdom in profound religious esteem because of the presence of the two Holy Mosques.
He said the people and Parliament of Pakistan had deep respect and reverence for Saudi Arabia and its leadership, reflecting the exceptional nature of the fraternal relationship between the two countries.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also underscored the importance of the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement involving Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, describing the arrangements as significant developments in strengthening defence cooperation and regional security. Pakistan’s leadership has similarly described the two agreements as strengthening the strategic dimension of the longstanding bilateral partnership.
The reception was attended by senior government officials, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, religious scholars, academicians, media representatives and other prominent personalities.
