SYDNEY, Friday, December 18, 2025 (WNP): Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Friday announced that Sunday, December 21, will be observed nationwide as a Day of Reflection to honor the victims of the terrorist attack at Bondi Beach and to express solidarity with those affected by the tragedy.

In a statement, the Prime Minister called on Australians to participate in a minute of silence at 6:47 p.m., exactly one week after the attack, and to light a candle as a quiet and collective act of remembrance.

“This Day of Reflection is about honoring the victims and standing together in compassion,” Albanese said. “It is a time to stand with the Jewish community, to wrap our arms around them, and for all Australians to share in their grief.”

The Prime Minister emphasized that the observance would provide an opportunity for the nation to reflect on the values of unity, respect, and mutual support in the face of violence, while reaffirming Australia’s rejection of terrorism and hatred in all its forms.

The Bondi Beach attack has prompted an outpouring of solidarity across the country, with community leaders, faith groups, and civil society organizations calling for calm, unity, and resilience as Australia mourns the victims and supports their families.
