RAWALPINDI, Monday, November 10, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan military spokespersons on Monday said troops foiled a “heinous and cowardly” terrorist attack on Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan, killing two assailants and cornering three others inside the college administrative block.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the attackers — described by the military as “Khwarij belonging to Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij” — attempted to breach the college perimeter. When intercepted, the assailants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the main gate, causing the gate to collapse and damaging nearby infrastructure.

“Their nefarious designs were swiftly foiled by the vigilant and resolute response of our troops,” the ISPR said, adding that soldiers engaged the intruders with precision and eliminated two attackers at the scene. According to the military, three remaining attackers gained entry and have been cornered in the administrative block, where clearance operations are under way.

The ISPR alleged that the militants inside the compound are in direct contact with handlers in Afghanistan, receiving instructions from across the border.

The statement challenged claims by the Afghan Taliban regime that such groups are not present on Afghan soil and warned that Pakistan “reserves the right to respond against terrorists and their leadership present in Afghanistan.”

The military linked the assault to a pattern of attacks targeting educational institutions, saying the group had attempted to repeat the “barbaric” tactics used in the 2014 Army Public School attack in Peshawar. ISPR said the attackers aimed to intimidate youth in the former tribal districts who are pursuing education and socio-economic progress.

Clearance and counter-terror operations are continuing. The ISPR said security forces will press ahead with the nationwide counter-terror campaign under the government-endorsed vision “Azm-e-Istehkam”, and vowed to eliminate “foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism” from Pakistan.

There was no immediate word from civilian authorities on casualties among students, staff or security personnel; independent verification of ISPR’s attribution of responsibility was not available at the time of publication. The situation remains fluid and further details are expected as clearance operations conclude.
