Pakistan, Iran vow to deepen defence ties, boost regional stability

ISLAMABAD, Saturday, August 2, 2025 (WNP): Pakistan and Iran on Saturday reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defence ties and promoting peace and stability in the region in a significant step toward enhancing regional cooperation.

The pledge came during a high-level meeting between Iran’s Minister for Defence, Brigadier General Aziz Nasir-Zadeh, and Pakistan’s Minister for Defence, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, held here.

The two sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including regional security dynamics, counter-terrorism cooperation, and prospects for expanding defence collaboration.

Minister Khawaja Asif underscored the importance of sustained defence diplomacy in tackling shared security challenges and praised Iran’s constructive engagement with Pakistan.

Brig. Gen. Nasir-Zadeh, while thanking the Government of Pakistan for the warm reception, emphasized Iran’s readiness to deepen defence relations based on mutual respect, trust, and a common vision for regional peace.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both ministers expressing optimism about the future trajectory of Pakistan-Iran defence cooperation and pledging to continue joint efforts for regional security and prosperity.
