RAWALPINDI, Saturday, May 10, 2025 (WNP): India, in a dramatic escalation of hostilities, launched air-to-surface missile strikes on three key Pakistan Air Force (PAF) installations—Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot—early Saturday morning, the Pakistani military confirmed.
Addressing an emergency press conference, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said all critical air assets remained unharmed despite the “naked aggression” by Indian jets.
“India has fired air-to-surface missiles targeting three of our airbases: Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot. However, a majority of these were intercepted by our air defence systems,” Gen Chaudhry said. “Initial assessments confirm no damage to PAF flying assets.”
He described the attacks as part of a “broader campaign of reckless escalation,” suggesting the strikes are symptomatic of “India’s growing internal instability and strategic paranoia.”
“Their frustration grows every time they fail. They cannot shake the resolve of the Pakistani people, which only strengthens in the face of such cowardly provocations,” the military spokesperson asserted.
Gen Chaudhry warned that India’s actions are pushing the region toward a catastrophic conflict. “This is not just limited to Pakistan—India’s missile and drone strikes inside Afghanistan, coming just hours after similar activity in Indian Punjab, point to a dangerous and calculated effort to destabilize the region,” he said.
Pakistan’s air defence network, he added, had successfully tracked the electronic signatures of all Indian missiles used in the recent assault, including their launch points and intended targets. “India’s attempts to achieve its objectives have failed,” he emphasized.
The DG ISPR also confirmed that six ballistic missiles were earlier launched by India from its Adampur airbase. In a highly unusual incident, one missile reportedly landed near Adampur itself, while the other five struck parts of Amritsar, raising questions about India’s targeting accuracy.
“This incident not only endangered civilian lives but also exposed serious operational lapses within the Indian military,” Gen Chaudhry noted.
He accused New Delhi of deliberately targeting Sikh-populated areas in Indian Punjab. “These strikes appear calculated to incite Sikh hostility toward Pakistan, a dangerous and divisive move,” he said.
Concluding his remarks with a warning, the Pakistani military spokesperson stated: “Now you just wait for our response.”
The latest developments come amid rising fears of a wider regional conflict following India’s earlier “Operation Sindoor” inside Pakistani territory, which Islamabad has called a violation of sovereignty and an act of war.
