ISLAMABAD, Friday, April 25, 2025 (WNP): Pakistani security forces eliminated six terrorists during a late-night intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bannu district on April 23–24, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the operation was launched based on confirmed intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area. “During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the location. After an intense exchange of fire, six Khawarij were sent to hell, while four others sustained injuries,” the ISPR stated.

A subsequent sanitisation operation is currently underway to ensure the area is completely cleared of any remaining militant elements. The ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain resolute in their mission to eradicate terrorism and restore peace across the country.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif both hailed the successful operation and praised the security forces for their unwavering commitment to defending the nation.

President Zardari commended the bravery and professionalism of the troops, saying the entire nation stands in solidarity with the security forces in their war against terrorism. He reiterated the country’s resolve to eliminate what he described as the “Fitna of Khawarij” from Pakistan.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the operation, acknowledging the dedication and capabilities of Pakistan’s security forces. “These terrorists are the enemies of humanity. Our war against terrorism will continue until the complete elimination of this menace,” he said.

The Bannu operation marks another milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorist threats and safeguard its citizens.
