Pakistan-Saudi brotherhood evolving into stronger strategic partnership; PM reaffirms commitment to Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and sanctity of Two Holy Mosques
ISLAMABAD, Wednesday, September 23, 2026 (WNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday extended warmest congratulations and sincere felicitations to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the Kingdom’s National Day.
The Prime Minister said the distinguished journey of Saudi Arabia in progress and transformation was a source of pride and admiration not only for the Saudi people but also for Pakistan.
He said that under the dynamic leadership and insightful vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kingdom continued to make remarkable strides towards greater prosperity, modernization and innovation.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan took immense pride in its historic and deep-rooted brotherhood with Saudi Arabia, which was founded on shared faith, mutual trust and the strong bonds uniting the two peoples.
He said that under the patronage and leadership of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the longstanding brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia was evolving into a stronger and more resilient strategic partnership, grounded in a shared commitment to peace, security and the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
The Prime Minister highlighted the signing of the Joint Strategic Defence Agreement and the Joint Defence Agreement for the Honour of Makkah, describing them as important milestones in the evolving strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the recent Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, particularly the reported attempt to target the city of Makkah with a drone.
He said any threat to the sanctity and security of the Two Holy Mosques deeply wounded the feelings of Muslims around the world.
“Pakistan stands firmly, shoulder to shoulder, alongside the Kingdom in protecting its sovereignty, security and the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites,” the Prime Minister said.
He prayed that the brotherhood between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia would continue to grow and flourish, becoming increasingly deep-rooted and stronger with every passing day.
“Long live the brotherhood between Pakistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” the Prime Minister said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar also extended heartfelt greetings and felicitations to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi government and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia on the Kingdom’s National Day.
Senator Ishaq Dar said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia shared an exceptional bond rooted in faith, history, mutual respect and deep affection between their peoples. He said the enduring fraternal relationship continued to grow from strength to strength, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to further deepening the strategic partnership and cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all areas of mutual interest.
He expressed the hope that the Kingdom would continue to prosper and achieve greater heights under the wise leadership of the Saudi leadership.
