More than 60 scholarship recipients receive guidance on higher education and life in Russia ahead of their studies
ISLAMABAD, Thursday, August 27, 2026 (WNP): The Embassy of Russia in Pakistan hosted a seminar for Pakistani students who have secured scholarships to pursue higher education at Russian universities under the Government of the Russian Federation’s scholarship programme, the Open Doors International Olympiad and competitions organised independently by Russian universities.
More than 60 Pakistani scholarship recipients participated in the seminar, both in person and online. The students are scheduled to begin their studies at universities in Moscow, St Petersburg, Voronezh, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and other Russian cities.
Welcoming the scholarship winners, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev congratulated the students on their success and on receiving the opportunity to pursue higher education in Russia.
The Ambassador highlighted the strong academic standards and longstanding educational traditions of Russian universities, wishing the prospective students success in their studies and their future academic careers.
The seminar also brought together Pakistani academics and a Pakistani student currently pursuing doctoral studies in Russia, who shared practical experiences and advice with the scholarship recipients.
Among the speakers were Dr Faisal Javaid, Dean of the Department of International Relations at the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST); Dr Gul-i-Ayesha Bhatti, Assistant Professor at the NUST School of Social Sciences and Humanities and Director of the Eurasia Chapter at the Consortium for Asia Pacific & Eurasian Studies (CAPES); and Saif Ullah Tariq Butt, a Pakistani PhD student at Perm State University in Russia.
The speakers provided guidance on various aspects of studying in Russia, including adapting to university life, managing everyday affairs and navigating life in different Russian cities.
They also responded to questions from the prospective students, offering practical insights based on their academic and personal experiences.
The Embassy said the knowledge and guidance provided during the seminar would help young Pakistani students prepare for their transition to Russian universities and adapt successfully to their new academic and social environments.
The initiative also underscores the growing educational and people-to-people links between Pakistan and Russia, with scholarship programmes providing Pakistani students opportunities to study at leading institutions across Russia.
The Embassy expressed confidence that the students would make the most of their educational opportunities and benefit from Russia’s multicultural and welcoming academic environment.
