Seasoned counter-terrorism officer takes charge at a critical time as Pakistan intensifies efforts against terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
ISLAMABAD, Friday, September 4, 2026 (WNP): The federal government has appointed Major General Faisal Naseer, HI (M), Tamgha-i-Basalat & Bar, of the Pakistan Army, as National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) for a period of three years.
The Establishment Division has formally issued a notification regarding his appointment.
Major General Faisal Naseer is a seasoned officer with extensive experience in counter-terrorism operations and security affairs. His operational experience and understanding of counter-terrorism mechanisms are expected to contribute to NACTA’s efforts to strengthen coordination and institutional responses to the evolving terrorist threat.
His appointment assumes particular significance as Pakistan continues to confront terrorism and militant violence, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where security forces and law-enforcement agencies remain engaged in efforts to protect the lives and security of citizens.
