Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia reaffirm strategic defence cooperation under Makkah Joint Defence Agreement

ISTANBUL, Monday, August 31, 2026 (WNP): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday attended the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee, established under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, alongside Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Defence Forces/Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The meeting was held in Istanbul with the participation of their Turkish and Saudi counterparts, marking the inaugural session of the newly established strategic mechanism.

The participation of Pakistan’s senior political and defence leadership reflected the country’s commitment to strengthening strategic, political and defence cooperation with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia under the framework of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.

The committee is expected to provide an institutional platform for enhanced coordination and consultations among the three countries on matters of mutual interest, defence cooperation and regional security.
